DAY 1
Monday 29 June 2020

Afternoon departure from London Heathrow to Sofia. Private transfer from airport to your centrally located 4-star hotel.
Welcome dinner in a local restaurant.

 

DAY 2
Tuesday 30 June 2020

After breakfast, a full day tour of Sofia. The city is located at one of highest altitudes among the European capitals (550 m. above sea level). Its center is rich in traces from Thracians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans and Bulgarians, the Roman Rotunda St. George (4th century), the former Büyük Mosque, the Russian Church of St. Nicholas, the Al. Nevski Cathedral, the ruins of the ancient Serdica, the Banja-Bashi mosque and the synagogue. Lunch in the city.
This evening [18h00] attend a performance of Wagner’s opera “Parsifal” at the splendid Sofia National Opera House. Dinner under own arrangements.

 

DAY 3
Wednesday 01 July 2020

After breakfast departure to Rila Monastery. Founded in the 10th century, the Rila Monastery is regarded as one of Bulgaria's most important cultural, historical and architectural monuments and is a key attraction not only for Bulgaria, but also for Southern Europe. It was named after its founder, who was the first Bulgarian hermit. He was revered as a saint while he was still alive. The legend surrounding him tells of wild animals that freely came up to him and birds that landed in his hands.Since 1983 it belongs to the UNESCO world cultural heritage. Lunch at a restaurant near Rila Monastery - fresh grilled trout with vegetable salad. Late afternoon return to Sofia. Dinner under own arrangements.
DAY 4
Thursday 02 July 2020

After breakfast departure for the emblematic Boyana church (UNESCO World Heritage). Built in the Middle Ages and consecrated to St. Nicholas and Pantaleimon. The oldest parts of the church date back to the 10th century. Further construction phases were dated to the 13th and 19th century. When Sofia was still named Sredez, the place was a fortress with the residence of the provincial administrator. The church is no longer used as a church, but only as a museum. Proceed to the National Hostory Museum. The museum covers the entire period from prehistory to our times. It is one of the largest museums on the Balkan Peninsula and contains in its collections over 533 000 ceramic exhibits, archaeological finds, gold and silver treasures and many other works of art that not only represent our nation, but also the world culture for about 6 thousand years! Lunch included.

This evening [18h00] attend a performance of Wagner’s opera “Die Walküre" at Sofia National Opera House. Dinner under own arrangements.

 

DAY 5
Friday 03 July 2020

After breakfast free time until late morning transfer to Sofia airport to connect with return flight to London Heathrow.
