Opera in Verona

MWE & RCE - East Sussex

Dear Andrew,
Thanks for your letter following-up our trip.

We had a superb time in Verona. The opera seats were very good and the production quite enthralling. A little rain in the afternoon but a warm and dry for the evening.

The Hotel Firenze was comfortable and well located and the staff very helpful. The flights were hard work but I guess they always are unless you can afford private travel. Next time we would ensure that we had a flight time at a more civilised hour. My sons travelled out to Verona the day before us by Easy Jet with a departure time of 11.15 rather than our 6.55 am!

We ate in your suggested restaurants mostly. Our special supper was at the Ristorante Maffei. Location and food were terrific and they handled the surprise rendezvous with our sons with enthusiasm and assurance. After the meal they showed us the Roman excavations under the restaurant.

We enjoyed the pre-opera meal at the Tre Marchetti and lunches at Osteria Buglioni, Antica Botega del Vino and the wonderful and very welcoming 12 Apostelli. We also had a very enjoyable and inexpensive, al fresco evening meal at the Pizzaria Impero, Piazza Signoti. Verona is a good city for shopping!

We treated ourselves to lunch at the Hotel Villa Feltronelli on Lake Garda, very expensive, exclusive and elegant hotel with stunning location and grounds, incredible food and immaculate service however one would need to be pretty well-healed to stay there!

I'm pleased to say that there were no problems with any aspect of the arrangements. Thanks for rescheduling the car collecting us to go to the airport.

Probably more detail here than you expected but Verona and Lake Garda made a lasting impression and its hard not to relay the detail. We want to go back soon!
