Rom-Com is shorthand for Romantic Comedies. These include not only comedies but also romantic works (such as the French composer Boieldieu's La dame blanche.) Opera buffa is a term used to describe Italian comic operas of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries: major examples of the genre are Cimarosa's Il matrimonio segreto and Donizetti's Don Pasquale.
