2012 Puccini Festival

2012 Puccini Festival

Although Puccini was born in nearby Lucca, he became bewitched by the peace and charm of Torre del Lago. The town is close to Viareggio and the Tuscan countryside and so apart from the annual Puccini festival, makes an ideal centre for exploring the area. Nearby Lucca is a Tuscan gem with a wealthy past and proud rich present. Lucca has some of the best examples of Gothic and Romanesque architecture that Tuscany has to offer, the cathedrals of San Michele and San Martino for example.
