Olavinlinna Castle - View programme

A most picturesque town (c 30,000 inhabitants) in the heart of Europe's largest lake district in eastern Finland. Reached by a one hour flight from Helsinki, Savonlinna was built on a chain of islands and grew up as a popular spa town. The centre of the town is the medieval Olavinlinna Castle, the main venue for the summer opera festival.

Savonlinna is in the central part of Finland and an hours flight from Helsinki.
